The Procedure

Treatment with Botox® is simpler than you might think. The treatment itself takes about 10 minutes but we allow 45 minutes for your first appointment. This gives you time to ask as many questions as you like, and then we can perform the following test to find out exactly where the sweat glands lie.

Before treating the underarm with Botox® for the first time, a simple test called the Minor's test is performed. It uses cornstarch and iodine to define the area that needs to be treated - as shown below.

Once this is completed the nurse or doctor can inject the Botox® where it is required. This take just a few minutes. The treatment involves multiple tiny injections in the affected area that enter only the skin. Most people find the treatment a bit uncomfortable rather than painful.

Minor's Test

Step 1 The client should shave their underarm before the procedure.
Step 2 Next iodine is applied to the treatment area with a cotton gauze.
Step 3 After waiting a couple of minutes the area is dry and ready for starch detection.
Step 4
The starch indicator is liberally applied to the treatment area and left for up to 15 minutes.
Step 5 The perspiration turns the powder black, and indicates the area that needs treating.

Step 6

The area requiring treatment is now easily identified.
