Maxim - Q & A
Maxim™ is very unique in that unlike conventional antiperspirants, it is applied at night time before you go to bed (yes at night time). Why is this? While you sleep, your armpits are most dry. You may choose to use a hairdryer on a cool setting to assit the drying process otherwise simply relax for 5 - 10 mins with your arms open. It is important to ensure complete drying before sleeping to reduce the possibilities of irritation and also to reduce possiblestianing on clothes.
Maxim™ will absorb into your sweat glands while you sleep and shrink your sweat glands. Only a few strokes is required. Maxim™ is odourless and colourless. You can shower in the morning (you could probably get away with showering an hour after application, but wait the whole night). In the morning, follow your normal hygiene routine whether that includes applying your regular "antiperspirant" or deodorant; it will not negatively affect Maxim™.
Frequency of Use : You should see results the first day after application. Frequency of use is completely unique to the individual and depends on the severity of the hyperhidrosis. At first, apply Maxim™ every night until your sweating is sufficiently reduced. Should your sweating reduce to where you are satisfied, you may be able to decrease your application of Maxim™ to only a few times per week or on an as needed basis. If you don't see results, do not worry. Continue to apply Maxim™ every night.
If your skin becomes too itchy or irritated, stop applying and wait until it goes away, then start applying again. You may only be able to apply it once every couple of days if your skin is very sensitive.
Therefore depending on YOUR hyperhidrosis, you may become a daily user, perhaps only once per week, or anything in between.
Can I apply Maxim to other parts of my body?Yes, we have many customers who use Maxim on their face, hands and feet. Just use the roll-on applicator to apply it to the desired area. For facial application, you can apply it to your fingers, then rub it into your face. Just make sure you put it on at night time before you go to sleep. Get up in the morning and follow your regular hygiene routine, it won't wash off.
Should I be concerned about any side affects?
Sweating is worry enough. This is one question that frequently comes up to our support staff. Should you be concerned about any side affects? In reality, there is a small percentage of our customers who do report some side affects. However, they are pretty minor. The most common side affect can be itching or burning, particularly if you apply the antiperspirant to broken or irritated skin. We recommend to avoid itching or burning, do not apply Maxim to irritated skin or broken skin. Discontinue if rash occurs. Some customers will discontinue use if the irritation is too much. After a few days when the irritation stops, people will try to apply a very small amount to a very localized area of the axillea armpit, most often, right in the center and they have reported good results.
Compensatory Sweating is another common side affect that one may experience when using Maxim. When this occurs, it is due to the body’s natural ability to compensate and perspire outside of the arm pit area. The body has over 2,700 square inches of skin on which to perspire compared to about 6-10 square inches under the armpit. The armpit is not necessary for thermoregulation. So to stop sweatig in the pores under the armpit will not effect your health. Those who have compensatory perspiration may experience very mild if any during heavy physical activity and is nothing to worry about. Personally, the benefits of the cessation of underarm wetness far outweigh any compensatory perspiration that I have experienced. The other side affect can be underarm irritation. Personally, very rarely I will experience some minor itching but again, it is a minor inconvenience and very tolerable compared to the alternative. You may choose to reduce your frequency of use or perhaps convert to the Maxim™ Sensitive product that contains a reduces percentage of the active ingredient.
Can or should I apply a deodorant while using Maxim?
Since Maxim is an antiperspirant that should eliminate your hyperhidrosis, many people do not require a deodorant. However, some people, including myself apply a deodorant because the armpit is typically a breading ground for bacteria, that's what causes the odour. If you do apply a deodorant, do so in the morning.
