Botox Questions & Answers

What is Botox®?
Botox® is a natural purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium in much the same way that penicillin is produced by mould. It is a medicine that has many applications, has been used to treat muscle spasm for over 20 years.
What are the most common side effects?
All reported side effects are temporary. Some people have reported bruising in the treated area. Occasionally, some people experience headache or flu-like symptoms for up to two weeks following treatment.
How long does the treatment take to work?
You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed, and you may continue to experience some sweating from the untreated areas. If you do not see a significant reduction in sweating, you should contact your Caci Medispa and request a follow-up consultation.
What happens if I decide to stop having Botox® treatments for my hyperhidrosis?
If you decide not to have further treatment, there will be no lasting change in the treated areas. The effects of Botox® treatment will gradually wear off, and your underarm sweating will resume.
Are there any people who are not suitable for treatment with Botox®?
Botox® is not recommended for lactating or expectant mothers, or those planning pregnancy. Botox® should be used with caution on people with some medical conditions causing muscle or nerve problems and those taking particular antibiotics.
